The effect of use of flexible working arrangements on the work-life satisfaction of married female managers: The moderating influence of overtime work and spouse cooperation
Kim Ji-Hyun

Abstract
This study aims to identify the impact of the use of flexible work on the job and personal life satisfaction of married female managers, and to verify the moderating influence of overtime and spouse cooperation. To this end, panel ordered logit analysis and fixed effect model analysis was conducted by utilizing 4th to 7th data of Korea Women Manager Panel Survey(¡¸¿©¼º°ü¸®ÀÚÆгÎÁ¶»ç¡¹). As a result, flexi-time had a positive impact on female managers¡¯ job satisfaction, while there was no significant impact on personal life. Moreover, flexi-place had no influence in both areas. However, overtime and spouse cooperation have been verified as important variables moderating the relationship between flexible work and personal life satisfaction. In other words, time related flexible workers who do not work overtime were more likely to be satisfied with their personal life, while overtime worker¡¯s satisfaction tended to decrease despite the use of time-flexible arrangements. In addition, receiving emotional and physical support from spouses increased the vocational satisfaction of flexi-time workers, whereas time-flexiblity without spouses¡¯ support led to more negative results. These results imply that family-friendly flexibility within statutory working hours and gender equality in the family should be improved to enhance the satisfaction of married female workers.
